Bernard Evans

Bernard Evans works in oils. His subject matter in recent years has been mainly the landscape and life of West Cornwall where he lives and the area of London bordering the Thames from Westminister to Canary Wharf. Bernard Evans was born in Liverpool in 1929 and was a student at Liverpool and Camberwell Schools of Art. Many of his ideas on colour and technique are based on the teaching of Martin Bloch who taught at Camberwell in the early fifties. Bernard Evans taught and lectured for twenty years in Cheshire and Nottingham.

He came south to live in Cornwall with his wife Audrey to run Mounts Bay Art Centre where he taught painting and drawing in his large studio adjoining his house in Newlyn.

He has exhibited widely throughout his life in both solo and group shows. He is a member and past Chairman of the NSA (Newlyn Society of Artists).
